Spring Lake Park National Honor Society to brave the cold in an overnight Sleepout For The Homeless

On January 12, 2007 Spring Lake Park High School's National Honor Society (NHS) will hold their Fourth Annual Sleepout For The Homeless.  As in the past, students will sleep out on the school grounds, overnight, in cardboard boxes.  This year, however, they will be adding a few new boxes to their number as the St. Anthony Village High School's National Honor Society members will be joining them.

These students are sleeping out to raise money for the Ferry Street Shelter in Anoka County.  The shelter is a small emergency shelter located just off of Ferry Street.  The shelter needs financial donations for much-needed new bedding.  The goal of the NHS students is to raise $4,000.

NHS members are currently collecting donations and pledges for the sleepout.  If you'd like to donate money you can make checks out to “District16 NHS.”   Send checks to NHS Sleepout For The Homeless, c/o Kalli Binkowski, Spring Lake Park High School, 8001 Able Street NE, Spring Lake Park, MN 55432.  You can also place a pledge with one of the Spring Lake Park NHS members, committing to an amount of money per hour for each hour that the member stays out.

Feel free to dress warmly and come out and support these students, beginning at 9 pm on Friday, January 12 and continuing through 9 am on Saturday, January 13.  It'll be a fun night filled with food, laughter, and a lot of cold high school students.
