(M.S. 201.018, Subd. 2).  The law establishes a permanent system of voter registration by county with a single, official, centralized, interactive computerized statewide voter registration list defined, maintained, and administered at the state level that contains the name and registration information of every legally registered voter in the state, and assigns a unique identifier to each legally registered voter in the state.

Method of Registration

An individual may register to vote in person or by mail except during the 20 days immediately preceding any regularly scheduled election.  A registration that is received no later than 5:00 p.m. on the 21st day preceding any election shall be accepted.  (M.S. 201.061., Subd. 1).  A person not registered to vote may register on election day by completing a voter registration application, making an oath as prescribed by the Secretary of State and providing proof of residence.  (M.S. 201.061, Subd. 3).  A person may prove residence on election day only
